Showing children the keys to life
What do children have to believe in today? The news is full of people who let us down with their mistakes and failings. Many of their 'heroes' from Hollywood and the sports arena are modeling careless lifestyles. The children of today are constantly bombarded with the pressures of a society that is moving away from God rather than toward Him. God left specific instructions to parents in the Bible:
Point your kids in the right direction - when they're old they won't be lost. Proverbs 22:6 (The Message)
Faith Weaver (FW) Friends teaches children to have faith in the truths of the Bible. Each Wednesday evening is filled with multiple activities geared toward one goal - teaching them about faith in God.
The evening begins with all the kids together for songs, worship and the lesson introduction. The children are then divided up by age into two groups. The toddlers group, ages 3 and 4, separate into another classroom and enjoy a curriculum dedicated just to them. The older group, ages 5-11, is divided up into subgroups. Each subgroup travels around visiting various stations such as Game Time, Snack Time, Projects with a Purpose, Surprise Station (science experiment) and others. Every station uses a different teaching method to illustrate the evening's lesson. This class structure continually reinforces the principle for the day.
After all the stations have been completed, the kids all come together again to fill out their individual journals. The kids are asked in their journal to rate their week from 1 to 10 and then explain why they rated it that level. Each journal also asks questions about the lesson for the day and provides activities for the kids and their parents to do together at home.
If you want your child to live in a manner that pleases God, they need to know and believe in what God says. FW Friends is a fun environment that provides a lot of hands-on type learning. Bring your kids and give them the opportunity to meet a real hero - Jesus Christ. FW Friends meets in the fellowship hall. We look forward to seeing you soon!
